Custom furniture and home space statistics.

Eight current U.S. housing and remodeling figures for writers, homeowners, and anyone planning furniture around a real room.

Last updated October 6, 2026. Every figure below links to its original source.

Why these numbers matter

Furniture has to fit the life happening around it.

Custom furniture begins with a practical question: what needs to work better in this room? The figures on this page give that question a wider frame. They show the scale of the homes, bedrooms, new construction, and remodeling projects where furniture has a real job to do.

These are national figures, not a promise about any one home or project. For a piece made to order, the room measurements and the people using it still come first.

Method and sources

Built for straightforward reference.

This page uses the latest applicable national figures available from the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the National Association of Home Builders. The source link beside each figure is the best place to check definitions, methodology, and updates.

Sources use different reference years because housing surveys, construction data, and spending data are released on different schedules. Figures are shown as published and are not adjusted or combined into new estimates.
